How we work

Our process in 4 steps

  1. No-obligation quote

Send us the document you want translated into Hindi. You receive a competitive quote within 1 hour on working days. Short lines, one dedicated project manager who is there for you.

  2. Assigning a translator

One of our specialist Hindi translators gets to work. For certified translations, a professional translator who issues a certified statement of accuracy; for business, technical, legal or medical texts, a specialist from that field.

  3. Translation, QA and revision

Once the experienced Hindi translator has completed the text, a second specialist carries out a thorough quality check and revision.

  4. Delivery

You receive the Hindi translation digitally by email, in the same layout as the original. Certified translations are also sent by registered post where a hard copy is required.

Certified or standard? How to choose the right Hindi translation

  • Choose certified

When an authority requires an official, certified translation: the Home Office, courts, notaries, registrars or a foreign government. Escalated to notarisation or FCDO apostille where needed.

  • Choose standard

For business publication, websites, marketing and internal documentation. Faster and without certification, with the same specialist translator.

Not sure? Send your document and we will advise which form the receiving authority expects.

What non-native translators and machine translation miss in Hindi

Many teams speak good Hindi and AI tools translate in seconds. Yet in business, legal and medical Hindi texts, non-native translators and machine translation make the kind of mistakes that cost you credibility or legal validity. A few examples we prevent:

  • Confusing Hindi and Urdu

    Voorbeeld:

A document is drafted in Urdu (Nasta'liq, right to left) when the authority expects Hindi (Devanagari), or the reverse. Spoken, the two sound almost the same; in writing they are two different documents.

    Onze aanpak:

We confirm up front, per project, which script and register the receiving authority or reader expects.

  • Devanagari typography that breaks

    Voorbeeld:

Conjuncts (compound characters) and matras (vowel signs) fall apart or shift in PDF or print when the wrong font set or encoding is used.

    Onze aanpak:

Our DTP specialists deliver in correct Devanagari Unicode, so conjuncts, matras and numerals render accurately in text, PDF and print.

  • Too many anglicised loanwords

    Voorbeeld:

Spoken Hindi borrows freely from English, but in a formal or official document that reads as careless and unprofessional.

    Onze aanpak:

For official documents the specialist chooses the right formal register, drawing on Sanskrit-based vocabulary where it fits.

  • Name transliteration without coordination

    Voorbeeld:

Proper names are transliterated inconsistently from Devanagari to the Latin script, so names on the certificate, passport and translation no longer match.

    Onze aanpak:

We match name transliteration to the source document and the passport for each project, so authorities can reconcile the details.

Wereldwijde dekking

Waar Hindi wordt gesproken

Hindi is not a single market. An immigration file for UKVI calls for different terminology than a commercial contract with an Indian counterparty, and spoken Hindustani is almost identical to Urdu while the written script is entirely different. We match the script, terminology and register to the purpose of your document and confirm that choice up front in the quote.

Hindi or Urdu — which language do I need?
For most Indian contexts you need Hindi; for Pakistan and much of the British Pakistani diaspora you need Urdu. Spoken, the two are nearly identical (a shared Hindustani base), but the script and formal vocabulary differ. Hindi uses the Devanagari script (left to right) with Sanskrit loanwords and is an official language of India. Urdu uses the Perso-Arabic Nasta'liq script (right to left). We confirm which one your receiving party expects before we begin.
How do you certify a Hindi translation for use in the UK?
The UK has no sworn-translator institute, so there is no "sworn translator" as a legal office here. For official acceptance we provide certified translation: a signed and dated statement of accuracy from the translator or the agency, with our contact details. Where a body asks for more, this can be escalated to notarisation by a solicitor or notary public, or to an apostille or legalisation through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). Note that documents intended for India go through consular legalisation, because India is not a party to the Hague Apostille Convention. We confirm in the quote which level your receiving authority requires.
How does Ecrivus handle the Devanagari script?
Our Hindi translators and DTP specialists deliver in correct Devanagari Unicode typography. Conjuncts (compound characters), matras (vowel signs) and numerals render accurately in text, PDF and printed documents, so the authority or business reader sees no display errors. We also coordinate name transliteration to the source certificate and passport so the details reconcile.
Which professional bodies do you work with for Hindi translation?
We work with native specialist translators and reference the recognised UK professional bodies — the ITI (Institute of Translation and Interpreting), the CIOL (Chartered Institute of Linguists) and, for interpreting, the NRPSI (National Register of Public Service Interpreters). These are bodies of reference for the profession; we name them so you can see the standard the work is held to. The Central Hindi Directorate (Delhi) is the standardisation authority for the language itself.
What document types are most commonly translated into or from Hindi?
Common cases include birth and marriage certificates, immigration and family-reunion files, diplomas and transcripts, legal documents, commercial contracts and business correspondence. UK-specific cases we handle often are Home Office and UKVI immigration documents, university admissions assessed by UK ENIC and HMCTS court documents. We confirm the approach and any certification per document in the quote.
How quickly will I receive a quote, and what about the lead time?
On working days you receive a quote within 1 hour. The lead time for the translation itself depends on document type, volume, language pair and any required certification, and is confirmed in the quote. For tight deadlines we confirm a workable rush schedule up front rather than promising a fixed turnaround.
What if I need a legal document translated into or from Hindi?
For legal Hindi translation — contracts, judgments, family-law papers, notarial deeds — we pair you with a translator who has a legal background and match terminology to the Indian or UK context as the case requires. We provide certified translation where an authority asks for a signed statement of accuracy. Our legal-translation page goes deeper into certification and the closing statement of accuracy. See [legal translation](/en/services/legal-translation/).
Why choose a Hindi translation agency instead of finding a freelance translator yourself?
A Hindi translation agency takes the coordination off your hands. We select the specialist who fits your document and sector, deliver in correct Devanagari typography, arrange certification, notarisation or legalisation where an authority requires it, and have the work checked by a second reviewer where the legal field, risk profile or volume requires it. You keep one point of contact for the script, terminology, scheduling and delivery, all under a single quote. A skilled freelance translator does excellent work too; the difference an agency adds is bringing those moving parts together so you are not managing them separately.
