Which languages does Ecrivus support?
Ecrivus delivers translations in over 225 languages via a network of 10,000+ native specialist translators across 50+ sectors. Beyond commonly requested combinations (English-French, English-Spanish, English-German), we cover less common languages — Tigrinya, Pashto, Amharic, Dari, Swahili — for Home Office immigration cases, NGO work and business communication.
Which languages are available as sworn / certified translation?
For UK courts, notaries, the Home Office and overseas official bodies, we work with translators registered with ITI (Institute of Translation & Interpreting) or CIOL (Chartered Institute of Linguists), or with the relevant destination-country register. This certified track is available for most European, Slavic, and asylum-context languages (Arabic, Farsi, Ukrainian, Dari, Pashto). For Tigrinya, Swahili, Amharic and Afrikaans, no established sworn-track exists; we deliver these as standard expert translation by native specialists — suitable for business, NGO and cultural communication.
How do I choose between two language variants (e.g. British vs American English)?
For documents intended for multiple markets we recommend one master language plus the appropriate local variant per target market. For the UK we deliver British English (en-GB) by default, for EU partners International English, for the United States American English (en-US). For multinational documents (annual reports, contracts) terminology consistency is critical — we maintain a translation memory per client so terminology is held across all languages.
How fast will I receive a quote for a specific language?
We respond within 1 hour on working days with a no-obligation quote. You receive price per word or per page, a confirmed lead time, and the chosen approach (sworn / professional / rush). Rush jobs are possible — the realistic deadline is confirmed in the quote.
Do you also work with languages that are not on the list?
The ~50 languages shown on the website represent the majority of our orders. We also work with over 225 languages via specialised sub-networks — from Berber languages to Central Asian languages. For less common languages, ask without obligation; we confirm within 1 hour on working days whether we have the right specialist.
What is the difference between translation and transcreation?
A translation faithfully transfers the source into another language — suitable for contracts, manuals, financial reports. Transcreation is creative rewriting for marketing, advertising and campaigns: the translator adapts the slogan, headline or strapline so the message lands as powerfully in the target language. Rates are typically 3-4x higher than standard translation, because the conceptual work is comparable to copywriting.
Does Ecrivus also provide interpreting in these languages?
For spoken communication, Ecrivus provides a complete interpreting service in over 225 languages: simultaneous interpreting for conferences, consecutive for meetings and negotiations, video remote interpreting (VRI) for NHS and urgent scenarios (aligned with NHS SBS framework, Equality Act 2010 and DBS-checked interpreters), and complete interpretation booth hire including installation. For Crown Court and asylum hearings, we work with NRPSI-registered interpreters.
