How we work

How we coordinate your multimedia project

Preparing for your quote

Costs and delivery time

No hidden costs: here are the factors that determine what a multimedia project costs and how long delivery takes. We confirm the exact rate and delivery time in the quote.

Wat bepaalt de kosten

  • Language and language pair Core languages (EN, DE, FR, NL) are immediately available. Rare languages or regional variants (Scottish Gaelic, Welsh, Irish) carry higher rates and longer lead times.
  • Modality Voice-over (recording + mix), subtitling (timing + QA) and transcription (listening + writing) are each priced separately. Combined projects benefit from economies of scale.
  • Broadcast spec or standard Broadcast quality (EBU R 128 loudness, SDH, TC-encoded) requires additional steps and is priced separately from standard online delivery.
  • Volume and recurrence Large volumes (20+ minutes video, 10+ hours audio, recurring projects) qualify for volume rates. One-off short-form projects are priced individually.

Wat bepaalt de doorlooptijd

  • Language and voice artist availability Core languages are immediately available. For specialised voice profiles or rare languages, additional casting time is required.
  • Video duration or audio hours Rule of thumb: 1 minute of video requires 3-5 minutes of professional subtitling time. Voice-over: script length + studio + mix. Transcription: approximately 4× the audio duration.
  • SDH and burned-in processing SDH subtitling and burned-in rendering require additional processing steps above the standard subtitle package.
  • Briefing and materials Complete materials at project start (script, glossary, brand guide) = optimal preparation and shorter delivery time.

AI and human

When AI helps, when a native specialist is required

AI tools such as automatic speech recognition and voice synthesis are useful for speed and volume. But for broadcast-suitable voice-over, SDH subtitling aligned with WCAG 2.2 AA, or legally verbatim transcription, human expertise is not optional — it is a quality and compliance requirement. We combine AI where it makes sense (auto-transcription as a base, AI dubbing for volume) with native human review as a layer on every final deliverable. Never unreviewed AI output in published content.

What is the difference between voice-over, dubbing and subtitling?
Voice-over is a new recording by a native voice artist in the target language — the original audio remains audible in the background (corporate video, e-learning). Dubbing replaces the original voice completely with lip-sync (film, TV). Subtitling displays the translated text as a text layer on screen — no voice recording required (streaming, social). We advise at no obligation on which modality suits your content and budget.
Which subtitle formats do you deliver, and which broadcast specs do they align with?
EBU-TT-D, TTML, SRT, VTT, SCC and EBU-STL — aligned with the EBU Timed Text profile and the technical specs of major streaming platforms and public-service broadcasters. On request we deliver TC-encoded subtitles and burned-in versions for broadcast distribution. SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard-of-hearing) is available aligned with WCAG 2.2 AA, the European Accessibility Act (EAA, applies from 28 June 2025) and, for UK clients, the Equality Act 2010.
How accurate is your transcription compared to auto-transcription?
Native transcribers with domain expertise deliver substantially higher accuracy than automated speech recognition when dealing with multiple speakers, regional accents or technical/legal/medical jargon. We use a hybrid QA approach: native transcription with a second-pass review where the work requires it, time-code accurate speaker-tag conventions, and explicit marking of unintelligible passages.
When should I choose AI dubbing over traditional voice-over?
Voice-over by a native voice artist is ideal for commercials, brand videos and premium e-learning where tone and presentation are critical. AI dubbing is an option for high volumes of internal training material or help documentation where human casting is less critical. We combine AI with native human review as a layer — never unreviewed AI output in published content.
Do you provide SDH subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing?
Yes. SDH (Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard-of-hearing) is a standard component of our subtitling package on request — including descriptions of relevant sounds, music cues and speaker identification. Aligned with WCAG 2.2 AA, the European Accessibility Act (EAA, applies from 28 June 2025) and the Equality Act 2010 for UK clients. Audio description (AD) for visually impaired audiences is available alongside.
How does your pricing model for multimedia services work?
Voice-over is priced per word or per minute of final audio — depending on language, voice level (junior/senior) and broadcast usage rights. Subtitling per minute of video. Transcription per hour of audio. Volume discounts apply for large-scale projects and recurring work. Lead time and pricing are confirmed in the quote.
Do you also provide text translation as part of a multimedia project?
Yes. We regularly combine script translation, voice-over, subtitling and transcription in a single integrated project. One dedicated project manager ensures tone-of-voice consistency across all modalities and languages. For text translation outside multimedia context, see our Translation Services.
