What is MTPE?

MTPE is ideal for high volumes, regularly updated content and documents with a lot of repetition. For creative copy, high-impact marketing and content where tone of voice is critical we recommend fully manual translation or transcreation. Cost savings are significant versus manual translation — without compromising publication quality.

Language reach

MTPE in 225+ languages

From core European languages to low-resource markets — native post-editors per language and domain.

Our process

How it works

  1. Content analysis and engine selection

We analyse the domain, content type and language pair, then select the most suitable neural machine translation engine — generic or industry-specific.

  2. Machine translation

The source text is translated by a state-of-the-art NMT system (DeepL, Google NMT or domain-trained models). Terminology glossaries are applied automatically.

  3. Post-editing by native expert

A qualified post-editor — a native translator with MTPE specialisation — corrects nuance, technical jargon, cultural context and brand terminology.

  4. Terminology and style-guide check

The post-editor validates approved terminology, style-guide compliance and consistency with previous translations. Optionally extended with a quality report.

  5. Publication-ready delivery

You receive the translation in the original format (DOCX, XLIFF, HTML, XML) — ready for publication, importable into your CMS or TMS.

The strength of hybrid

AI does the heavy lifting; people make it publishable.

Modern NMT is remarkably fast — but a share of the output still contains errors that can damage your brand. Our post-editors catch exactly those errors. They read every line, refine nuance and align with your terminology. The result: the same quality as manual translation, at significantly lower cost.

When is MTPE the right choice?
MTPE is the right choice for high volumes of informative or technical content, repetitive text and regularly updated documents. For creative copy, high-impact marketing or content where a specific tone is critical we recommend fully manual translation or transcreation. We help you make that distinction during the intake conversation.
What is the difference between light and full post-editing?
Light post-editing (LPE) corrects only serious errors — factual inaccuracies and omitted segments — and is suited to internal use or fast-consumption content. Full post-editing (FPE) additionally improves style, fluency and terminology to publication standard, making the result indistinguishable from manual translation. We deliver FPE as standard; LPE only on explicit request.
What do I get differently with MTPE versus standard translation?
With MTPE, a neural machine translation (NMT) system produces the first draft. A native post-editor — a domain specialist with MTPE training — then reviews and corrects the output. With full post-editing the result is publication-ready and indistinguishable from fully manual work. The production model is more efficient for large volumes of repetitive content.
Is MTPE suitable for legal, marketing or medical content?
For legal and medical texts with high risk profiles we recommend fully manual translation or MTPE with FPE by specialist post-editors, where the risk profile or scope requires it. For strongly creative marketing copy we recommend transcreation. MTPE works best for repetitive, informative content — technical documentation, product descriptions, manuals and internal communications.
How is MTPE priced?
Per-word rates depend on: language pair, NMT engine type (generic vs domain-trained), post-editing level (LPE or FPE), volume and repetition content in the file, and optional quality reporting via MQM-DQF. We always confirm rates in advance — transparently compared to manual translation.
How do you handle confidentiality with machine translation?
We process confidential documents exclusively through secure, privacy-friendly NMT solutions. On request we put a GDPR-compliant data processing agreement in place and can deploy on-premises or private-cloud engines without data sharing with third parties. NDA by default on every project — recommended as standard for medical, legal and corporate-sensitive content.
How do you handle translation memory integration?
We integrate your existing translation memories (TM) and termbases into the MTPE workflow via Trados, memoQ or Phrase TMS. Repetitions and high fuzzy matches are leveraged to reduce post-editing effort. New TM segments from MTPE projects are fed back as standard to maintain consistency across future projects.
