Ukrainian and Russian are separate East Slavic languages with their own alphabet and orthography. The Ukrainian Cyrillic alphabet has 33 letters, including the distinct ґ, є, і and ї, which Russian lacks; the vocabulary and grammar diverge substantially. We therefore always treat Ukrainian as a separate language and never substitute a Russian translator for a Ukrainian one.
