Acholi closely resembles Lango, Alur and the South Sudanese Acholi, and is sometimes confused with the wider Luo group, which also includes the Kenyan Dholuo. We assess the document first, establish the actual source language and variety, and give the work to a translator who can tell these languages apart. On handwritten or mixed English-Acholi material we pay extra attention to identifying the real source language.
