What is multilingual voice-over?

Our workflow: you supply the script (or we translate it), we select the right voice actor per target market based on your brief (tone-of-voice, age, regional accent), the recording takes place in a professional studio, and post-production and mixing are included. For apps and IVR systems we factor in prompt timing and cross-platform compatibility. On request we also deliver A/B voice variants for testing in your target market — and audio description (AD) for visually impaired audiences, aligned with WCAG 2.2 AA and the European Accessibility Act (EAA, applies from 28 June 2025).

Language reach

Voice-over in every language

From corporate English to Japanese anime voice: our casting database covers 225+ languages and many regional variants.

Our process

How it works

  1. Script and translation

We translate or localise your script with native speakers who keep an eye on speaking pace, lip-sync (where required) and the desired tone.

  2. Voice talent selection

Based on your audience and brand identity, we select the right voice actor from our network of professional voices in 225+ languages.

  3. Studio recording

The chosen voice actor records the script in our own studio or in a certified partner studio — with the right acoustic quality for your application.

  4. Post-production and mixing

The recording is professionally edited: noise reduction, normalisation, timing, plus optional music or sound effects according to the brief.

  5. Delivery

You receive the final files in MP3, WAV or any other required format, ready for direct integration into your video, app or e-learning platform.

Voice as a brand asset

Our voice talent is more than performers — they are brand ambassadors.

The right voice builds trust in seconds. That is why we work with a casting briefing for every assignment: tone-of-voice, audience, emotion and brand identity. No hit-and-run actors — our voices know your brand.

Which languages are available for voice-over?
We deliver voice-overs in more than 225 languages, including English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese and Korean. Regional variants such as Austrian German, Swiss German or Mexican Spanish are also available. For a full overview or specific voice profiles, please get in touch.
Can I request casting demos before deciding?
Yes. We offer casting demos so you can choose between several suitable voice actors for your project. You receive short voice samples (typically 20 to 30 seconds per voice) so you can assess each option before the full production starts.
Does Ecrivus also handle script translation?
Yes. We cover the complete process — from script translation and localisation through to the final recording. Our translators specialise in adapting scripts for voice-over, taking speaking pace, timing and any lip-sync requirements into account.
In which file formats do you deliver voice-over?
We deliver MP3 (320 kbps) and WAV (24-bit / 48 kHz) by default. On request we can also deliver AAC, AIFF or any other format required by your platform or editor — including separate tracks for post-production.
Can voice-over be combined with subtitling?
Yes. We regularly combine voice-over and subtitling in a single project. This is ideal for videos watched both in sound-off environments and with audio, and where content also needs to be accessible to deaf or hard-of-hearing viewers.
How does your pricing model for voice-over work?
Rates depend on: script length (in words or minutes of final cut), number of languages, voice-talent level (junior/senior/celebrity), studio recording time and post-production requirements. For broadcast commercials the voice actor often charges usage rights as well. We confirm rates per project up front, in writing.
When should I choose voice-over over AI dubbing?
Voice-over is ideal for commercials, brand videos and premium e-learning where voice authenticity and tone-of-voice are critical. AI dubbing is a budget-friendly option for high volumes such as internal training material, help documentation or internal communication — where human casting is less critical.
